Enterprise development
We encourage our participants to run their own enterprise to achieve financial security. We share knowledge on trade and business management to support them in running a successful enterprise. This, along with our sustainable agriculture and gender & social inclusion work, contributes to the long-term improvement of our participants' lives and wellbeing.
As soon as a farmer is producing enough food to meet their own needs, we encourage them to get their surplus produce to market. We train farmers in understanding market systems, encourage micro-entrepreneurs to develop their adventurous business ideas, and particularly focus on expanding employment opportunities for young people.
Our work on market systemsEvery opportunity and good idea needs accessible, affordable finance to make it a reality. We support informal village banking schemes and access to finance services for growing businesses. So far, more than 100,000 members of village savings groups across 6 Ripple Effect countries have generated over £27m for lending, allowing for many new enterprises to expand.
Our work on financial inclusionWomen are powerful drivers of economic development: we recruit at least 67% women as participants in our projects, and provide women-centered mentoring, training and skills development.
Our work with womenGrowing unemployment rates for young people means a generation may miss out on work opportunities. We’re training them in the skills they need, encouraging them to make their own work, and supporting the enterprises which can provide future employment.

You can contribute to our enterprise development work by making a donation, allowing us to carry out our important work. We have various projects that upskill participants and support them in starting their own enterprise, such as the Sustainable Outcomes for Children and Youth project. Your donation will make a significant impact and will help us reach more people in need.
