What we do
Fighting poverty by strengthening farming families in rural Africa.
Ripple Effect works alongside smallholder farmers across rural East Africa so they can grow more food, earn sustainable incomes, and build secure futures.
We bring communities together, promoting inclusive livelihoods and the protection of natural resources for generations to come.

How we create lasting change
Instead of isolated interventions, we work holistically across three connected areas:
We train families in agroecological practices that restore soil health, increase farm biodiversity and improve nutrition. Farms become more productive and less dependent on expensive external inputs.
Explore sustainable agriculture
We ensure women, young people, and people living with disabilities have equal access to training, land, decision-making and economic opportunity. Stronger inclusion leads to stronger households and communities.
See how we work on gender and social inclusion
Once families are food secure, we support participation in local markets, community savings groups, business skill trainings and financial services access. This helps families diversify income and build financial security.
Discover enterprise developmentClimate resilience is built through all our work
Across East Africa, farming families are facing more unpredictable seasons, rising temperatures, degraded soils and increasing pressure on natural resources. These challenges affect harvests, incomes and household wellbeing.
Our climate work helps communities adapt by strengthening the foundations that make farming families resilient. This includes sustainable farming practices and better natural resource management, more stable and diverse incomes through enterprise, and stronger household cooperation and inclusion so families can plan, decide and respond to shocks together.
A proven, people-centred approach
Our approach is practical and long-term. We work with communities to build knowledge and strengthen local systems so change can continue beyond our direct participants.
This includes supporting peer learning so farmers share skills with neighbours, tailoring programmes through local staff who understand context, and working alongside local leaders and government where possible to strengthen long-term support.
How you can support our work
Your support is what makes our work possible. Whether you decide to support us financially, or by sharing our mission and farmer stories with others who don't know about us yet, every bit counts - and we thank you for your generosity.
