Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Big Give Christmas Challenge?

The Big Give Christmas Challenge is the UK’s biggest match-funded campaign. For seven days, Ripple Effect supporters can have their donations doubled and, in doing so, can make twice the difference this Christmas to farming families in rural Africa.

To take part and have your donation doubled, you must donate to Ripple Effect's campaign page on the Big Give website between midday Tuesday 3 December to midday Tuesday 10 December. Donations made via the Big Give website during the campaign period will then be doubled by our Big Give champion, the Coles-Medlock Foundation, and a generous group of Ripple Effect supporters.

You can learn more about the campaign on the Big Give website.

How can I double my donation?

To take part and have your donation doubled, you must donate through Ripple Effect's campaign page on the Big Give website during the campaign period of midday Tuesday 3 December to midday Tuesday 10 December.

Donations made via the Big Give website during the campaign period will then be doubled by our Big Give champion, the Coles-Medlock Foundation, and a generous group of Ripple Effect supporters.

Please note that donations made offline (such as via BACS transfer or by cheque in the post) or on other websites (including the Ripple Effect website) cannot be doubled, but will be greatly appreciated.

When can my donation be doubled?

The Big Give Christmas Challenge campaign runs from midday Tuesday 3 December to midday Tuesday 10 December.

Who is doubling my donation?

Donations made to the Big Give Christmas Challenge will be doubled by our Big Give champion, the Coles-Medlock Foundation, and a generous group of Ripple Effect supporters known as Pledgers.

The Coles-Medlock Foundation and Pledgers have agreed to match up to £50,000, which would then be doubled. With your support, an amazing £100,000 could be raised, helping farming families in rural Uganda earn enough to feed their children and send them to school. Once the £50,000 target has been reached, donations will no longer be doubled but will still be greatly appreciated.

What impact will my donation have?

Donations made to the Big Give Christmas Challenge could support farming families in Uganda to improve their crop yields and generate enough income to feed their children and send them to school.

Families could receive seeds and vital training on how to increase crop yields to generate income. Mothers could receive business skills, learning how to set up and run their own thriving business so they can afford to send their children to school and break the cycle of poverty for good.

Families could improve their access to hygiene knowledge so they can protect themselves from disease and easily avoidable illnesses ensuring their children stay healthy and don't miss out on school.
