Equal Roots Fund
Helping women, young people, and people with disabilities access equal opportunities.
Across rural East Africa, inequality shapes who can earn an income, grow food, and make decisions. Women and girls often face the biggest barriers, alongside young people and people with disabilities.
The Equal Roots Fund works to change this. It helps families and communities share power more fairly, create safer environments, and ensure everyone can take part in building a secure future.
What your support makes possible
With the right support, communities can:
- Increase women’s voice and decision-making at home and in farming
- Prevent violence and strengthen safeguarding
- Remove barriers so people with disabilities and other excluded groups can fully participate
- Expand access to farming, small businesses, and savings groups
- Provide local childcare so parents, especially women, can work, learn and rest
Communities will see more women influencing decisions about income, farming, and household resources, reduced stigma and discrimination, safer families and communities, greater participation from women and people with disabilities, and more parents able to earn an income because childcare is available. Together, we can help ensure opportunity is not limited by gender, age, or disability, but shared by all.
