About the role
In partnership with Mastercard Foundation, Ripple Effect Uganda is implementing a five-year (2022 – 2027) Youth Inclusive Dairy Market Systems Project (YIDaMS) whose aim is to enable 50,000 young women and men to access dignified and fulfilling work in the dairy sector. In support of our project objectives, we are seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Safeguarding Officer for the YIDaMS project based in Mbarara.
As Safeguarding Officer, you will support project Youth Inclusive Dairy Market Support (YIDaMS) team by systematically ensuring the safety, dignity, and meaningful access of project participants is upheld. As Safeguarding Officer, you will ensure that project activities do not unintentionally increase participants exposure to potential risks. As part of this, the Safeguarding Officer will implement preventive measures to ensure project participants (youth) as well as staff are protected from harassment, exploitation, and abuse. The projects will directly serve over 50,000 project participants under YIDaMS and key accountability staff are required to ensure projects are consistently responsive to project participants needs and that any safety concerns are quickly addressed.

About you
As Safeguarding Officer, your core skills will include:
Safeguarding expertise: You will have a solid 5 years’ experience in safeguarding and a proven track record in safeguarding programming.
Youth skilling: You will bring your 4 years of experience in youth skilling to contribute to our mission of empowering the next generation.
Values alignment: You will understand the importance of confidentiality, integrity, and maintain a clear understanding of a zero-tolerance approach to safeguarding concerns.
Leadership qualities: You will be an initiator and self-driven individual with a demonstrated ability to lead, build, and develop effective safeguarding strategies within a team setting.
Strategic vision: You will possess a broad and mature perspective, coupled with strategic thinking skills and an exceptional eye for detail.
Innovation and creativity: You will showcase your creative and innovative approach to problem-solving, enhancing our safeguarding initiatives.
Interpersonal skills: You can demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills to effectively engage with stakeholders and foster a safe and inclusive environment.
