Cool Cockerel
£6.00
A Cool Cockerel charity gift is a great asset for a family in rural Africa with a hen!
Together they can provide eggs which are a vital source of protein and can improve family nutrition. Chicks can be bred and sold into the community for income and even the birds’ droppings can be used to make great compost for thriving crops. Families with cockerels and hens can start up their own small business.
Your gift helps mothers like Mary.
Mary previously struggled to grow enough to feed her children on her depleted land, and they survived on maize alone. By keeping cockerels she can fertilise the eggs of the chickens so she can sell chickens at the market. With the additional income that Mary is making from keeping chickens and growing plentiful vegetables, she’d like to buy a generator and a water pump for better irrigation on their farm.

Why your gift has lasting impact
A Ripple Effect gift isn't a handout; it’s an opportunity. Your gift helps us reach some of the poorest families in rural Africa, enabling them to grow nutritious food, earn a living, and build secure futures.
We focus on long-term impact rather than short-term gains, and on support that's practical and relevant.
Our locally-based teams train families to:
- Farm sustainably and protect their land.
- Include everyone in the household and share tasks fairly.
- Develop their small businesses and financial independence.
Farming families are so committed to change that they share what they learn and grow with others. This creates a ripple effect that transforms communities far beyond our programmes.
