What is the Big Give Regular Giving campaign?

The Big Give Regular Giving campaign is a match-funded campaign run by The Big Give. From 1-28 September, Ripple Effect supporters can have the first three months of any new regular gifts they set up doubled, and in doing so, can make twice the difference for farming families in the countries where we work across rural Africa.

To take part and have your donation doubled, you must donate to Ripple Effect's campaign page on the Big Give website between midday Tuesday 2 December to midday Tuesday 9 December. Donations made via the Big Give website during the campaign period will then be doubled by the Big Give, up to a maximum monthly value of £500, for as long as the match funds last.

To take part and have your donation doubled for the first three month of your regular gift, you must donate through Ripple Effect's campaign page on the Big Give website during the campaign period of 9am Tuesday 1 September to 11pm Monday 28 September.

Regular gifts set up via the Big Give website during the campaign period will then be doubled by the Big Give for the first three months, up to a maximum monthly amount of £500. 

Please note that regular gifts set up offline (such as by phone) or on other websites (including the Ripple Effect website) cannot be doubled, but will still be hugely appreciated.

The Big Give Regular Giving campaign runs from 9am Tuesday 1 September to 11pm Monday 28 September.

New regular gifts set up through the Big Give Regular Giving campaign will be doubled by the Big Give for the first three months, up to a maximum monthly amount of £500. 

The Big Give have agreed to match up to £25,000 in regular giving donations. Once the £25,000 match fund has been used up, donations will no longer be doubled but will still be enormously appreciated.

Donations made to the Big Give Regular Giving campaign could help support parents to put nutritious food on their children's plates, helping to prevent malnutrition and stunting.

With your support, farming families could learn climate-smart agriculture practices - simple, practical techniques like composting, mulching, and inter-cropping that help the soil retain water and nutrients. These sustainable farming practices protect crops against drought and erosion, reduce dependence on chemical fertilisers, and lead to stronger harvests and fuller plates for their children.

Your donation could provide parents with drought-resistant seeds for fruits and vegetables that grow throughout the year, even as the climate changes. Families gain a more stable source of nutritious food, ensuring children grow up healthy and strong. Each harvest also produces more seeds to share with neighbours, creating a ripple of resilience across whole communities.

Families could be supported to set up kitchen gardens close to home, making it easier to harvest fresh, nutritious food each day. This helps children stay healthy and gives parents more stability and support. As their gardens begin to thrive, families share seeds and simple techniques with neighbours, passing on the progress so others can grow nutritious food at home too.

Yes, you will first need to create a donor account with Big Give to make a regular giving donation. An account takes no time to set up and will allow you to manage your regular giving donations quickly and easily.

At the moment, the Big Give only accepts donations made via debit or credit card for regular giving donations.

The minimum donation amount for regular giving donations is £1, and the maximum amount is £500.

You can only set up one regular gift per charity.

The first donation is always taken immediately, and subsequent ones on the same day of the month, e.g. if you make your first donation on the 15th of June, subsequent donations will be taken on the 15th of every month. If you make your donation on the 29th, 30th, or 31st of the month, then all subsequent donations will be taken on the 28th.

Yes, if you declare your regular giving donation as eligible for Gift Aid, then Gift Aid will be applied for all of your monthly donations. 

When you set up a regular gift to Ripple Effect through the Big Give Regular Giving campaign, it is with the understanding that the donation will be taken each month until you cancel the mandate.

Your regular giving donation will be matched for the first 3 months. Donations will still be taken after the first 3 months, but they will not be matched.

Partial matching is not possible with regular donations. For example, if only £300 of match funds are available and you want to make a monthly donation of £150, then you will be asked to either reduce your monthly donation to a maximum of £100/month or set up a unmatched regular gift.

When you first set up your regular gift through Big Give, you will receive a confirmation email, which provides all of the details of your monthly donations. Further donations are viewable in the Your Donations page of your Donor Account.

Please contact hello@biggive.org with your donation reference number if you would like a refund on your regular giving donation. We can only issue refunds up to a maximum of 7 days after the donation has been made.

To cancel your regular giving donation:

• Log in to your Big Give donor account
• Click on Your Regular Giving
• Click on View Mandate
• Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on ‘Cancel my regular donations’
• On the following page, enter a reason for cancelling your donations and click on ‘Submit’

If your card expires while you have an open regular giving mandate you will need to update your payment method with us. To do this: 

• Log in to your Big Give donor account
• Click on Your Payment Methods
• Click on Change regular giving payment method
• Update your payment details

If your payment methods are not updated when your card expires, we will not be able to take a payment from you
