Help families like Fatuma’s fight hunger this fall
In Kenya, farming families are living on the front line of the climate crisis. Farmers like Fatuma are experiencing up to 25% crop damage each year due to erratic weather conditions. This is leading to food scarcity and a severe loss of income, driving families into extreme poverty.
Fatuma lives in Kwale county, along Kenya’s coast. Historically, this region experiences two distinct rainy seasons: April to June and October to December. However, this weather pattern has now become unpredictable, with periods of heavy rainfall and prolonged drought.
When the crops fail, families like Fatuma’s are unable to grow enough nutritious food for their children to eat. Fatuma worries about providing her family with a healthy balanced diet, as her crops are either scorched by extended periods of drought or carried away by heavy rains.

But when a family works alongside Ripple Effect, it doesn’t take much to help change their future.
Meet Elizabeth, who lives with her family in Migori, west Kenya. Since joining Ripple Effect in 2020, life has improved for Elizabeth and her family. They now eat healthy nutritious food every day, and her children can go to school.

As soon as Elizabeth received her training in sustainable organic farming, she set to work planting a variety of fruit and vegetables, including poverty-busting pineapples. She now has many sources of income which makes her more resilient to the erratic weather conditions she faces due to the climate crisis.
With you by their side, mothers like Fatuma will be able to feed their families healthy nutritious food and send their children to school, just like Elizabeth. If you can, please donate today to help farming families like Fatuma’s battle the devastating impacts of the climate crisis.
Here’s how a gift from you could make all the difference:
There are many more farmers like Fatuma who are struggling to tackle the impacts of the climate crisis so they can feed their families. If we don’t act now, these farming families and their children are at risk of going hungry. Will you consider donating today to help families like Fatuma’s?
As always, thank you so much for your continued generosity. We couldn’t do the work we do without our community of wonderful supporters.
