Giving in 2022: the best ways to help charities
Helping charities and people across the world is more important in 2022 than it has ever been and there are simply so many ways that you can help UK charities.
From participating in a digital fundraiser run, or shouting out and supporting charities online, read this blog to learn the best ways you, as an individual or a community, can make a difference.
Volunteering
One of the most useful things you can do to help out charities in 2022 is donating your time. This is quite easy for us to do, just set aside a weekend here and there or even a few hours every week, as this can make all the difference. Volunteering is the lifeblood of charities and by helping out a little in this way, you can make a surprisingly big impact as an individual.
Donate Effectively
Each charity has its own cause, helping people at home or overseas, helping children or tackling the effects of the climate crisis and enabling the environment to thrive. Whatever cause you want to support, make sure it’s close to your heart.
Charities should be transparent about how they spend your donations and about how the charity commission process works, which can help you when deciding which charity to support. Here at Ripple Effect, we are very transparent about our impact as we can tell you all about the impact of a monthly gift and exactly how your donations help others.
Participate in charity runs, events and challenges
One of the most fun and successful ways that many people across the UK raise money for charity is by participating in an event. Picking a physical feat or challenge drums up support and gets people thinking about the cause you are donating to, not to mention it is one of the most fun and engaging ways to make a difference.
One event many Ripple Effect fundraising like to return to year after year is in Bath and participants are already signed up for the Bath Half Marathon. If a half-marathon seems a little intimidating don’t worry, you can also sign-up to do the 5km! If this isn’t quite your cup of tea, you could even do an egg and spoon race for the whole family, it’s completely up to you.
Digital fundraising and events
Don't want to leave your house? No problem. One positive from the various lockdowns is that many charities have set up socially distanced and digital ways to give back, so you can support charities from the comfort of your own home. A lovely way to give back is by hosting a virtual African coffee break. You can enrich the lives of coffee farmers in Africa while catching up with friends and family. If you’re intrigued to find out more about our work across Africa, you can also book a speaker to talk to your rotary group, church or school!
