In May 2018, Ripple Effect Ambassador and actor Ben Aldridge travelled to Uganda to meet families and community groups that we work with and to find out more about Ripple Effect’s approach to tackling poverty and hunger.
He helped with the daily chores such as cooking and collecting water, gaining a real insight into the daily lives of the families we work with.
During his week-long visit, he also met people facing huge challenges such as HIV/Aids, disability and lack of food. But what he also found, was communities and families transforming their lives. Not with hand-outs, but with practical support.
Speaking about his experience in Uganda, Ben says:
“It’s not handouts, it’s not aid; its sustainable, lasting change. Ripple Effect really is doing amazing work but even more impressive is the people and the communities that they’re working with.” - Ben Aldridge, Ripple Effect Ambassador and actor
