Rising to the challenge: building resilience in 2023-2034
Read our most recent Annual Review, and discover our amazing impact.
At Ripple Effect, our aim is always creating long-term impact in rural Africa. But what happens when the communities we support face immediate crises? This year was characterized by more extreme weather and further economic instability. Deeply unfair and unnecessary; the people who have contributed least to creating these crises are paying the price.
In response we have adapted our work to focus on building climate and economic resilience, leaving behind robust community structures for the future.
Our work has always been focused on food production and security, but it’s so much more than that, too. Read on to discover how we’re working at the intersection of current issues such as climate change and gender, and how we’re influencing change-makers to promote better, more sustainable farming practices for a confident and thriving rural Africa.
Some of our key achievements include:
846,000 people
This year we supported 846,000 people in rural Africa to take charge of their own lives and build a future free from poverty.
68% reporting confidence
68% of the project participants we worked with this year now report good confidence and self-esteem.
87% families food secure
87% of families in our Enterprising Migori project, Kenya, are now food secure.
