Panel event: women powered up for change
This is the burning question for our time: how will we take action on the climate crisis?
And more particularly, how will we tackle the crisis in the continent MOST threatened by climatic shocks: Africa. Where 110 million people have been directly affected by dramatic climate events.
We need everyone on board: educated and committed to a sustainable future. In Africa that means empowering the people who are usually disregarded: young people, marginalised and disabled people. And the biggest group of missing changemakers – women.
Meet Sofanit Mesfin
Sofanit Mesfin, Ripple Effect’s uniquely experienced leader on Gender and Social Inclusion in rural development in east Africa, is visiting London for the first time this June. She will be meeting with funders, policymakers and the media to make the case for investing in rural African women as powerful agents for change.
This is your chance to meet with her in person. Please join us for this challenging and inspiring panel discussion event, generously hosted by the Financial Times at their London offices.
What to expect?
Sofanit will share firsthand stories from her work empowering rural communities in eastern Africa, highlighting the resilience and resourcefulness of women and their ability to create change within families, communities, and across generations and regions.
She will be joined by panelists drawing in the vital roles of philanthropy, academia and business, sharing similar experiences of empowering women, confronting systemic barriers and collectively envisioning a positive, climate-resilient future.
