Will you re-green a garden this summer?
Support farmers in rural Kenya to bring their gardens back to life and grow food for nutritious meals.
It’s clear to see how the land in the Kwale region of Kenya has been impacted by the climate crisis. The soil in this area is sandy, lacks nutrients and is currently unsuitable for growing crops. Over 80% of farmers in the region depend on this land to feed their families.
With your help, we can re-green farmers' gardens, allowing them to learn more, grow more, and sell more.
Challenges caused by the climate crisis
Meet Sikukuu who lives with her husband Ibrahim and their two young children. As the climate crisis has worsened, the weather patterns they rely on have become unpredictable. Repeated cycles of drought and heavy rainfall destroy their crops and the quality of the soil.
Over time, green gardens with healthy soil for growing have been lost, along with her hopes and dreams for the future.
Sikukuu, Kenya
The conditions families like Sikukuu’s are up against are extremely tough. Year on year, as harvests decrease, Sikukuu’s children are at greater risk of hunger and malnutrition. This is a burden no parent should ever have to bear. But with your support today, things don’t have to be this way.
Our approach
Together, we can support families to re-green their gardens and grow an abundance of food now and in the future:
Leah, another farmer in Kenya has been working with Ripple Effect for over three years. Since joining a Ripple Effect project in Migori, she has turned her land into flourishing green gardens with plenty to feed her family and a surplus to sell. She has used a variety of different techniques to re-green her garden and protect her crops from heavy rainfall and periods of drought as a result of the climate crisis:
Thank you for being there for farming families like Sikukuu’s this summer and beyond.
A gift of any size could ensure a family like hers can restore the land, access nutritious food and earn an income, even in the face of the climate crisis.
